Daniel's Seventy Weeks — Seventh-day Adventist (Historicist) View

This chart illustrates the Seventh-day Adventist (historicist) interpretation of Daniel's Seventy Weeks (Daniel 9:24–27).
The SDA view dates the starting decree to 457 BC — the decree of Artaxerxes I to Ezra (Ezra 7:12–26), the third and most comprehensive decree, which included the restoration of Jewish autonomy, the legal system, and the temple worship. The 70 weeks are interpreted as "cut off" (chatak) from the larger prophecy of 2,300 days/years in Daniel 8:14, using the day-year principle (Num 14:34; Ezek 4:6).
The 69th week ends in Autumn AD 27 with the baptism of Jesus. The crucifixion occurs at the midpoint of the 70th week (Spring AD 31), and the 70th week ends in Autumn AD 34 with the martyrdom of Stephen and the spread of the gospel to the Gentiles. The 2,300 years, beginning at the same starting point of 457 BC, end in AD 1844 — the beginning of the Investigative Judgment in the heavenly sanctuary, a central doctrine of Adventism.
